Dear Colleague,

We are 145 days away from the opening of the 32nd International Symposium on Rarefied Gas Dynamics (RGD32).

We cordially invite you to participate in the RGD32 on July 13th-17th (Mon-Fri), 2020, in Seoul, South Korea.

Rarefied gas dynamics (RGD) is a multi-disciplinary field encompassing molecular physics of gases, mathematics, computational simulation, and application of underpinning technology in various sectors. RGD32 will serve as a global platform to bring together the best of current work on diverse and emerging subjects in RGD.

Abstract submission and registration for RGD32 is open at http://www.rgd32.org/

Participants are invited to submit their one-page abstracts online (after creating an account via sign up and login) by uploading docx or LaTeX zip files before March 31, 2020. Full manuscripts (optional) will be solicited in August 7, 2020 after the symposium.

Abstract template and further information are available at http://www.rgd32.org/submission.asp

In addition to four plenary lectures (Grad, Thomas, Bird, GNU-ERC), fifteen confirmed keynote lectures will be presented at RGD32. The lists and titles of lectures are available at http://www.rgd32.org/plenary.asp and http://www.rgd32.org/keynote.asp

Registration fees for regular/student/accompanying participants are: 900,000/550,000/180,000 KRW (840,000/490,000/120,000 KRW when skipping excursion; exchange rate 1190 KRW = 1 USD)

Late and on-site registration: 1,100,000/750,000/180,000 KRW

Registration fees include access to all symposium sessions, welcome reception, banquet, farewell party, daily tea-breaks and lunches, excursion (optional).

The early bird registration deadline is June 15, 2020.

Full refund will be arranged for cancellations received before June 23, 2020.

We are carefully monitoring the coronavirus COVID-19 situation in South Korea and neighboring countries. Even though we expect the situation will improve as the season moves from winter to spring and summer, we would like to approach this issue as follows:

1) We will put the safety of RGD32 participants above all.

2) We will continuously monitor the situation. In mid-April (3 months before the opening of RGD32 when flight tickets and accommodations should be available at relatively low costs), we will judge whether to make major changes to the event (such as delaying the symposium to a later time of this year).

3) When making further decisions in mid-April, we will consider two major developments—whether the Tokyo Summer Olympic is held as planned, and whether the flight ban from/to China is removed.

Please contact us at rgd32@gnu.ac.kr (primary) or rgd32nd@gmail.com with any questions.

We look forward to welcoming you in Seoul, South Korea, on July 13th-17th, 2020.

Sincerely,

Rho Shin Myong (Chair), Gyeongsang National University (myong@gnu.ac.kr)

Kun Xu (Co-Chair), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (makxu@ust.hk)
